The story of Morrison Snacks is more than just food – it’s a story of family, tradition, and transformation. It all began in the 1970s, when J.D. Anbiah laid the foundation of our family’s snack legacy. With his passion for taste and quality, he launched a snacks company that became famous across Kerala and Karnataka. His creations – the beloved “Jyothi Mixture” and the iconic “Simsons Peanut Candy” – were not just snacks, but household favorites that defined the snacking culture of an era. In Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, the same spirit of baking excellence was alive in Joy Bakery, run by the family of Jane Simson. Known as the people’s favorite bakery, Joy Bakery delighted its community through the 1970s with fresh breads, cookies, and cakes – becoming part of everyday life for countless families. After the passing of J.D. Anbiah in 2011, his son Simson Somraj J.D. carried forward the legacy. He established J.D. Anbiah & Sons Groundnut Mills, expanding into large-scale groundnut wholesaling across Kerala and Karnataka. What made the business unique was its commitment to buying groundnuts directly from farmers, ensuring fair trade and uncompromised quality – a principle that continues to guide us today. In 2020, the next generation stepped in. Joshua Ebenezar Simson, grandson of J.D. Anbiah, after completing his studies, started small – in a 160 sq. ft. room. What began as a modest repacking unit quickly grew into a thriving operation, supplying bulk snack orders to leading brands and bakeries across Kerala and Karnataka. This marked the birth of Morrison Snacks. Meanwhile, Jane Simson, daughter of Joy Bakery’s founders and a graduate in Hotel Management & Catering Technology, had been running Hannah’s Bakes as a passionate home-baking venture for over three years – delighting families with her wholesome cookies and brownies. By 2025, with consumer preferences shifting towards healthier and hygienic snacking, our family knew it was time to transform. Morrison Snacks evolved from being just a supplier into a new-age snacking brand, combining the best of tradition with modern innovation. And alongside, we officially launched Hannah’s Bakes as part of the Morrison family – bringing handcrafted cookies, brownies, and baked delights to a wider audience. Today, Morrison Snacks stands as a bridge between heritage and modern lifestyle – carrying forward the spirit of J.D. Anbiah and Joy Bakery, while embracing the future of snacking.
